What do I need to create a gamified Adventure?

To create a tailor-made Adventure you need:

• Purchase an Adventure License: it gives you access to the creation environment and lets you publish your Adventure for 30 consecutive days or for a full year, depending on the license you choose.
• Purchase Tokens: each player needs one Token to play an Adventure. If they need to play 2 Adventures, they’ll need 2 Tokens. The Tokens you purchase are tied to your personal account and shared across all your published Adventures.

First-time buyer? Once your purchase is complete, we’ll automatically send an email to the address you used at checkout with your login credentials, the link to the creation environment, and the Adventure creator user manual — though you probably won’t need it, because the interface is super intuitive. The process is instant and automatic — you can start building your Adventure right away.

Returning buyer? The system automatically updates your platform account with any Adventure licenses or Tokens you purchase. Important: make sure to use the same email address you use to log into the creation environment, as purchases are applied to that account.

Why isn’t creating an Adventure free?

Because there’s a whole team behind the scenes maintaining the platform and building new features to make your Adventure more epic — keeping it running 24 h a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, available anywhere in the world with an internet connection. We also provide support if you get stuck or run into issues, and keep the Apps updated and ready to download for free.

Are there Adventure templates?

No, we don’t offer templates for Adventures. Every Adventure starts from scratch so you can build it exactly the way you need it.

That said, you can explore any of our free open Adventures and borrow or adapt the game mechanics we use. Just follow the instructions on our homepage to play using our free Progressive Web App from any mobile, tablet or desktop browser, and add the open Adventures using their Game PINs.

Is the Adventure played online or at physical geolocated points?

It depends on your gamification design: you can create an Adventure that’s played entirely online, entirely at geolocated real-world points, or a hybrid of both.

If you geolocate the Challenges, you can require players to be within “n” metres of the geolocated point to unlock it. You define the minimum distance (in metres), as well as the Longitude and Latitude of the geo position, all from within the creation environment.

If you don’t geolocate the Challenges, the Adventure can be played entirely virtually. You can use all the locking options at the Adventure, Mission and Challenge level if you need to restrict access to certain parts of the Adventure — or to the whole thing.

Do players need to pay anything to play?

No. They just need to open a browser (on a mobile, tablet or computer), visit our free Progressive Web App at https://webapp.adventuriq.com and add the Game PIN for your Adventure(s).

If you want to create a paid Adventure for your customers, simply don’t make the Game PIN public. If you can sell access tickets in person, just show buyers the QR code that adds your Adventure to their App at the point of sale.
