Employee completing a gamified onboarding Adventure with AdventuriQ

Employee onboarding gamification app

Onboarding fails when all information arrives before the new employee has a reason to use it. An employee onboarding gamification app can turn induction into an active sequence of decisions, discoveries and checks without replacing human conversation.

AdventuriQ organises induction as an Adventure: each stage becomes a Mission and each concrete action a Challenge.

From “documents sent” to observable progress

Sending a handbook proves that a file was delivered. It does not show which part was completed, where a question appeared or what decision each person made.

With a gamified experience, HR and L&D can structure induction into steps and review Player activity through views such as Ranking, Game Board and Logbook.

What an onboarding Adventure can include

  • Culture and purpose: decisions based on realistic situations.
  • People and teams: Challenges to discover roles, owners and channels.
  • Tools: practical checks around essential processes.
  • Product or service: customer scenarios, questions and guided routes.
  • Safety and compliance: situations where the Player identifies the appropriate action.
  • First objectives: a Mission connecting learning with real work.

Player-level traceability: what can be reviewed

Traceability is not about turning people into numbers. It helps identify where support is needed and whether the designed journey is working as intended.

  • Which Players started or progressed through the Adventure.
  • Progress and score shown in Ranking.
  • Answers and activity linked to individual Challenges in Game Board.
  • The sequence recorded in the Logbook.
  • Timing and difficulty signals available in the configured experience.

Important: we do not present Excel export as a current feature because it is not confirmed in the current documentation reviewed.

Account or nickname access

Account-based access is usually the coherent choice for onboarding because it maintains identity and continuity. Play without registration (nickname) can be enabled per Adventure, but provides no real participant data and ties the session to the browser or device.

How to implement it without “playing for the sake of playing”

  1. Define outcomes: what the employee should know, locate or do.
  2. Order stages: culture, team, tools, product and safety.
  3. Design Challenges: each should verify a useful action or decision.
  4. Assign people: the experience provides structure; managers and colleagues answer questions.
  5. Review activity: identify blockers and improve the next induction.

What AdventuriQ does not replace

It does not replace the manager, team or HR. It also does not automatically turn dense content into learning. The app provides structure, progression and traceability; value still depends on Missions and Challenges connected to real work.
