Players joining an AdventuriQ Adventure with a nickname

The QR code is on screen. Everyone has a phone in hand. The energy is high. And then a registration form appears.

At a trade show, live event, school activity or real-time game, every extra step can cool the moment. That is why AdventuriQ now includes Play without registration (nickname): an option that lets people enter an Adventure by typing only a nickname. No email, no password and no account creation.

LESS FRICTION. MORE PLAY.

Scan. Choose a nickname. Play.

The Player opens the direct link or scans the QR code, chooses a name and enters. The Game Master and Game Designer still decide whether registration is required, Adventure by Adventure.

When every second matters

This option is designed for experiences where easy entry matters more than identifying every participant through real personal data:

  • Live events and trade shows: visitors can start while you still have their attention.
  • Team building and Arena Mode: the whole group joins from the projected QR code and nicknames appear in the lobby.
  • School or family scavenger hunts: useful when you do not want to depend on everyone having an email address.
  • Public Adventures: ideal when participation matters more than knowing the real identity behind each Player.
Arena Mode lobby with a guest Player
In Arena Mode, the nickname appears immediately in the lobby.

A guest, not a second-class Player

Once inside, a guest participates like any other Player. They appear on the Gameboard, rankings and participant lists; complete Challenges, earn Points and move through the Adventure. The difference is identification: a nickname instead of an account with real personal data.

Access-code locks and Access Tokens remain compatible. Removing registration friction does not mean giving up the access controls you have configured.

Play without registration option enabled in AdventuriQ
Enable the option under Adventure Options. Existing Adventures remain unchanged until you activate it.

The real choice: friction or traceability

Not every experience needs the same balance. Playing without registration removes steps, but it also changes the information available to you:

Use nicknames when…

you want immediate entry, the Adventure is short and you do not need to know the real person behind each alias.

Keep registration when…

you need real identity, certificates, training traceability or continuity across several days and devices.

The guest session is recovered automatically in the same browser and device. If the Player changes phone, clears browsing data or uses private mode, progress will not transfer and they may need a new nickname. Because there is no real email address, guests will not receive platform emails.

Enable it in under a minute

  1. Open the Adventure in Gamifier.
  2. Scroll to Adventure Options.
  3. Enable Play without registration (nickname).
  4. Save the Adventure and test its direct link or QR code.

The option is disabled by default in existing Adventures. Nothing changes until you choose to activate it.

Frequently asked questions

Can two people use the same nickname?

Not within the same Adventure, even with different capitalisation. Two separate Adventures may each have a Player using the same nickname.

Does it work with Arena Mode?

Yes. The Player scans the QR code, enters a nickname and appears in the lobby. From there, the game works like it does for registered Players.

Does a guest keep their progress?

Yes, in the same browser and device. Progress does not transfer automatically to another phone.

Can I still use codes or Access Tokens?

Yes. Both mechanisms are fully compatible with nickname access.

The best entry point is the one nobody notices

Enable nickname access when you want a QR code to become instant play. Keep registration when identity and continuity are part of the goal.
